Platinum resistance elements used in bridge circuit for measuring temperature difference between two flowing liquids. Temperature errors with circuit are less than 0.01 degrees C over range of 100 degrees C.
The 20 kW X-band transmitter power amplifier and its related control and monitor cabinet are described. The circuitry for the monitoring and protection of various transmitter components is discussed.
Meter indicates from 30 nH to 3 micro H. Reference inductor of 15 micro H is made by winding 50 turns of Number 26 Formvar wire on Micrometal type 50-2 (or equivalent) core. Circuit eliminates requirement for complex instrument compensation prior to taking coil inductance measurement and thus is as easy to operate as common ohmmeter.

The testing of a new design high power S-band diplexer is reported. The megawatt Cassegrain diplexer (MCD) is to be used for DSN operations. The tests described were performed at 100 kW at the Venus Deep Space Station (DSS 13) transmitter test area. At 100 kW or less no degradation of receive performance was detected.
Inexpensive lightweight unit is easily carried in coat pocket or attached to belt, detector sounds alarm in presence of dangerous microwave radiation levels. Device for detecting excessive operation of electric motors used to drive waveguide switches is described. Purpose of device is to prevent burnout of electric motor in event of waveguide stoppage at some point other than extreme limits of travel. Operation of equipment, components used to sense motor performance, and schematic diagram are included.
Optical-capacitive coupling is used for isolation of control voltages, such as the high-voltage level of a klystron control electrode that is not referenced to ground, to serve as error voltages referenced to system ground so that the magnitude and sense of correction may be transferred.
Variable power divider keeps microwave transmitter at full power. This preserves the bandwidth and modulation characteristics and proportions any amount of the full power from the normal antenna into a dissipative load.
