Search for Solar Boosted Dark Matter Particles at the PandaX-4T Experiment

We present a novel constraint on light dark matter utilizing 1.54 metric ton/year of data acquired from the PandaX-4T dual-phase xenon time projection chamber. This constraint is derived through detecting electronic recoil signals resulting from the interaction with solar-enhanced dark matter flux. Low-mass dark matter particles, lighter than a few MeV / c 2 , can scatter with the thermal electrons in the Sun. Consequently, with higher kinetic energy, the boosted dark matter component becomes detectable via contact scattering with xenon electrons, resulting in a few keV energy deposition that exceeds the threshold of PandaX-4T. We calculate the expected recoil energy in PandaX-4T considering the Sun’s acceleration with heavy mediators and the detection capabilities of the xenon detector. The first experimental search results using the xenon detector yield the most stringent upper limits cross section of 3.51 × 10 − 39 cm 2 at 0.08 MeV / c 2 for a solar boosted dark matter mass ranging from 0.02 to 10 MeV / c 2 , achieving a 23-fold improvement compared with earlier experimental studies. New Search for a Sterile Neutrino at MicroBooNE with BNB and NuMI Beams

The MicroBooNE experiment employs an 85-ton active volume liquid argon time projection chamber to detect neutrinos from both the on-axis Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB) and off-axis Neutrinos at the Main Injector (NuMI) beam. This poster describes short baseline neutrino oscillations in a 3+1 sterile neutrino model and presents the MicroBooNE results using only the BNB beam. Additionally, it states the impact of a degeneracy resulting from the cancellation of $\nu_e$ appearance and disappearance and demonstrates that combining data from the BNB and NuMI beams, which have substantially different $\nu_e/\nu_\mu$ ratios, can break this degeneracy.

MicroBooNE BNB Electron Neutrino Overlay Sample (No Wire Info)

MicroBooNE samples are provided for collaborative development in two different formats: HDF5, targeting the broadest audience, and artroot, targeting users that are familiar with the software infrastructure of Fermilab neutrino experiments and more in general of HEP experiments. The HDF5 files are stored on Zenodo, together with a list of artroot files accessible with xrootd. This sample includes simulated interactions of neutrinos from the Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB), overlaid on top of cosmic ray data. The sample is restricted to charged-current electron neutrino interactions within the argon active volume of the time projection chamber. The HDF5 files in this sample do not include the information at the wire waveform level ("NoWire" label), allowing for larger number of events to be included in the data set.More documentation, including detailed description of content, recipes, and example usage, at https://github.com/uboone/OpenSamples.Suggested text for acknowledgment is the following:We acknowledge the MicroBooNE Collaboration for making publicly available the data sets [data set DOIs] employed in this work. These data sets consist of simulated neutrino interactions from the Booster Neutrino Beamline overlaid on top of cosmic data collected with the MicroBooNE detector [2017 JINST 12 P02017].In addition, we request that software products resulting from the usage of the datasets are also made publicly available.

MicroBooNE BNB Inclusive Overlay Sample (With Wire Info)

MicroBooNE samples are provided for collaborative development in two different formats: HDF5, targeting the broadest audience, and artroot, targeting users that are familiar with the software infrastructure of Fermilab neutrino experiments and more in general of HEP experiments. The HDF5 files are stored on Zenodo, together with a list of artroot files accessible with xrootd. This sample includes simulated interactions of neutrinos from the Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB), overlaid on top of cosmic ray data. The sample is inclusive, i.e. it includes all types of neutrinos and interactions, with relative abundance matching our nominal flux and cross section models. Interactions are simulated in in the whole cryostat volume. The HDF5 files in this sample include the information at the wire waveform level (after deconvolution and finding of regions of interest). As this information significantly increases the file size, this sample contains about 17% of the events of the corresponding sample without wire information.More documentation, including detailed description of content, recipes, and example usage, at https://github.com/uboone/OpenSamples.Suggested text for acknowledgment is the following:We acknowledge the MicroBooNE Collaboration for making publicly available the data sets [data set DOIs] employed in this work.
