Quantum real-time evolution of entanglement and hadronization in jet production: Lessons from the massive Schwinger model

The possible link between entanglement and thermalization, and the dynamics of hadronization are addressed by studying the real-time response of the massive Schwinger model coupled to external sources. This setup mimics the production and fragmentation of quark jets, as the Schwinger model and quantum chromodynamics (QCD) share the properties of confinement and chiral symmetry breaking. By using simulations of quantum dynamics on classical hardware, we study the entanglement between the produced jets, and observe the growth of the corresponding entanglement entropy in time. This growth arises from the increased number of contributing eigenstates of the reduced density matrix with sufficiently large and close eigenvalues. We also investigate the physical nature of these eigenstates, and find that at early times they correspond to fermionic Fock states. We then observe the transition from these fermionic Fock states to mesonlike bound states as a function of time. In other words, we observe how hadronization develops in real time. At late times, the local observables at midrapidity (such as the fermion density and the electric field) approach approximately constant values, suggesting the onset of equilibrium and approach to thermalization. Robustness of quantum correlation in quantum energy teleportation

In this article, we explore a feedback-control protocol in different quantum field theories (QFTs) to study the quantum correlation in nonunitary evolution of quantum systems. Traditional studies on QFTs focus on quantum entanglement of pure states under the unitary evolution, however, we examine quantum correlation in mixed states using quantum energy teleportation (QET), which is an energy transfer protocol by utilizing ground state entanglement, and introduce quantum discord as a measure. QET involves a midcircuit measurement, which disrupts pure state entanglement. Despite this, our analysis demonstrates that quantum discord maintains the correlation throughout the QET process. We conducted numerical analyses with benchmark models including the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model, revealing that quantum discord consistently acts as an order parameter for phase transitions. The model is extended in a way that it has both the chiral chemical potential and the chemical potential, which are useful to study the phase structures mimicking the chiral imbalance between left- and right- quarks coupled to the chirality density operator. In all cases we studied, the quantum discord behaved as an order parameter of the phase transition. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Topological aspects of matters and Langlands program

The Langlands program is a vast mathematical projection linking number theory and geometry. In high-energy physics, a connection with mirror symmetry has been suggested in string theory, but it has been little studied in low-energy physics. In the framework of the Langlands program, we present a unified description of the integer and fractional quantum Hall effect and the duality found in the fractal nature of the energy spectrum of two-dimensional Bloch electrons, statistical physics, and quantum computation. The new unified view of existing dualism presented in this paper raises the entirely new question of how each theory of physics is connected as a piece of the Langlands program.

Algebra of hyperbolic band theory under magnetic field

We explore algebras associated with the hyperbolic band theory under a magnetic field for the first time. We define the magnetic Fuchsian group associated with a higher genus Riemann surface. By imposing the magnetic boundary conditions for the hyperbolic Bloch states, we construct the hyperbolic magnetic Bloch states and investigate their energy spectrum. We give a connection between such magnetic Bloch states and automorphic forms. Our theory is a general extension of the conventional algebra associated with the band theory defined on a Euclidean lattice/space into that of the band theory on a general hyperbolic lattice/Riemann surface.
