Transformer-based operator learning framework for self-energy in strongly correlated systems

We introduce Σ-Attention, a transformer-based operator-learning framework for approximating the self-energy operator of strongly correlated electronic systems. By creating a batched dataset that combines results from three complementary approaches, i.e., many-body perturbation theory, strong-coupling expansion, and exact diagonalization, each effective in specific parameter regimes, Σ-Attention is applied to learn an accurate approximation for the self-energy operator that is valid across a wide range of parameter regimes. This hybrid strategy leverages the strengths of existing methods while relying on the transformer's ability to generalize beyond individual limitations. More importantly, the scalability of the transformer architecture allows the learned self-energy to be extended to systems with larger sizes, leading to much improved computational scaling. Using the one-dimensional Hubbard model, we demonstrate that Σ-Attention can accurately predict the Matsubara Green's function of large systems with a wide range of coupling strength. Our framework offers a promising and scalable pathway for studying strongly correlated systems with many possible generalizations.

Quasi-Lindblad pseudomode theory for open quantum systems

Here, we introduce a new framework to study the dynamics of open quantum systems with linearly coupled Gaussian baths. Our approach replaces the continuous bath with an auxiliary discrete set of pseudomodes with dissipative dynamics, but we further relax the complete positivity requirement in the Lindblad master equation and formulate a quasi-Lindblad pseudomode theory. We show that this quasi-Lindblad pseudomode formulation directly leads to a representation of the bath correlation function in terms of a complex weighted sum of complex exponentials, an expansion that is known to be rapidly convergent in practice and thus leads to a compact set of pseudomodes. The pseudomode representation is not unique and can differ by a gauge choice. When the global dynamics can be simulated exactly, the system dynamics is unique and independent of the specific pseudomode representation. However, the gauge choice may affect the stability of the global dynamics, and we provide an analysis of why and when the global dynamics can retain stability despite losing positivity. We showcase the performance of this formulation across various spectral densities in both bosonic and fermionic problems, finding significant improvements over conventional pseudomode formulations.

Level scheme of Nb 92 and observation of an oblate collective rotational band

Excited states of 92 Nb were investigated using the reactions 82 Se( 14 N, 4$n$) and 89 Y( 6 Li, 1 $p$2$n$). Based on these experimental results, the level scheme was extended abundantly. The structures of both the positive and negative parity states have been compared with shell model calculations using the SNET interaction. Potential energy surface calculation using the configuration-constrained method was performed to study a rotational-like band in 92 Nb, and possible configuration of the band head has been discussed. In conclusion, the calculation indicates that it may be an oblate collective rotational band.

Synthesis of Pyrimidine Modified Seleno–DNA as a Novel Approach to Antisense Candidate

Chemically modified antisense oligonucleotides (ASO) currently in pre–clinical and clinical experiments mainly focus on the 2’–position derivatizations to enhance stability and targeting affinity. Considering the possible incompatibility of 2’–modifications with RNase H stimulation and activity, we have hypothesized that the atom specific modifications on nucleobases can retain the complex structure and RNase H activity, while enhancing ASO's binding affinity, specificity, and stability against nucleases. Herein we report a novel strategy to explore our hypothesis by synthesizing the deoxynucleoside phosphoramidite building block with the seleno–modification at 5–position of thymidine, as well as its Se–oligonucleotides. Via X–ray crystal structural study, we found that the Se–modification was located in the major groove of nucleic acid duplex and didn't cause the thermal and structural perturbations. Surprisingly, our nucleobase–modified Se–DNAs were exceptionally resistant to nuclease digestion, while compatible with RNase H activity. In conclusion, this affords a novel avenue for potential anti–sense modification in the form of Se–antisense oligonucleotides (Se–ASO).

Robust analytic continuation of Green's functions via projection, pole estimation, and semidefinite relaxation

Green's functions of fermions are described by matrix-valued Herglotz-Nevanlinna functions. Since analytic continuation is fundamentally an ill-posed problem, the causal space described by the matrix-valued Herglotz-Nevanlinna structure can be instrumental in improving the accuracy and in enhancing the robustness with respect to noise. We demonstrate a three-pronged procedure for robust analytic continuation called PES: (1) projection of data to the causal space; (2) estimation of pole locations; and (3) semidefinite relaxation within the causal space. We compare the performance of PES with the recently developed Nevanlinna and Carathéodory continuation methods and find that PES is more robust in the presence of noise and does not require the usage of extended precision arithmetics. We also demonstrate that a causal projection improves the performance of the Nevanlinna and Carathéodory methods. The PES method is generalized to bosonic response functions, for which the Nevanlinna and Carathéodory continuation methods have not yet been developed. Furthermore, it is particularly useful for studying spectra with sharp features, as they occur in the study of molecules and band structures in solids.

Reinvestigation of the level structures of the N=49 isotones 89 Zr and 91 Mo

Here, excited states of 89 Zr and 91 Mo have been investigated using the fusion reaction 6 Li+ 89 Y at beam energy of 34 MeV. Based on new experimental data, about 16 (13) new transitions have been added to the level scheme of 89 Zr ( 91 Mo). The level structures are investigated in the framework of the spherical-basis shell model using the effective interactions JUN45 and GWBXG. Reasonable agreement is obtained between the experimental results and the calculations. The calculated results indicate the newly proposed states are characterized by proton excitations from the 1f 5/2 , 2p 3/2 , 2p 1/2 orbits to the high-j 1g 9/2 orbit. The systematic features of low lying states in the N = 49 isotones are discussed.

Engineering donor–acceptor conjugated polymers for high-performance and fast-response organic electrochemical transistors

To date, high-performance organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) have mostly been based on polythiophene systems. Donor–acceptor (D–A) conjugated polymers are expected to be promising materials for OECTs owing to their high mobility and comparatively low crystallinity (good for ion diffusion). However, the OECT performance of D–A polymers lags far behind that of the polythiophenes. Here we synergistically engineered the backbone and side chain of a series of diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)-based D–A polymers and found that redox potential, molecular weight, solution processability, and film microstructures all have a severe impact on their performance. After systematic engineering, P(bgDPP-MeOT2) exhibited the best figure-of-merit (μC*) of 225 F cm -1 V -1 s -1 , amongst the highest performance of the reported D–A polymers. Besides, the DPP polymers exhibited high hole mobility of over 1.6 cm 2 V -1 s -1 , leading to fast response OECTs with a record low turn-off response time of 30 μs. The polymer also exhibited good operation stability with a current retention of 98.8% over 700 electrochemical switching cycles. This work reveals the complexity and systematicness in the development of D–A polymer based high-performance OECTs.

Enhanced Performance of Dual Inverter with a Floating Capacitor for Motor Drive Applications

This paper studies a dual inverter supplied by a DC-link and a floating capacitor (FC), emerged as a promising inverter topology for motor drive applications. For this type of inverter, the voltage ratio between the DC-link and the FC can be actively controlled. This ratio design is crucial as it essentially defines both the DC-link voltage utilization and the inverter output quality. Several voltage ratios have previously been discussed to enhance the dual inverter performance, but only one aspect, either the voltage utilization or the output quality, is investigated. As a result, although one performance aspect can be improved, the other aspect has been adversely affected. In this work, a comparative study considering both aspects is carried out for all the possible voltage ratios. Based on this analysis, the optimal ratios for different inverter modulation indices are identified. This is followed by proposing a ratio selection strategy to double the voltage utilization without degrading the output quality. Furthermore, this strategy enables an electric drive to work at a higher maximum speed without flux weakening for a given DC-link voltage. The claimed advantages have been proved by experimental tests on an open-end windings induction motor drive.

Digitization modeling of a CGEM detector based on Garfield++ simulation

Abstract Background The Cylindrical Gas Electron Multiplier Inner Tracker (CGEM-IT) is one of the candidates for the replacement of the current BESIII inner drift chamber, which has developed serious aging effects due to beam-related backgrounds. Purpose To build a full digitization model, it is necessary to understand the electron drift behavior and signal induction. Methods A simulation study based on Garfield++ and ANSYS software has been performed. Results Parameters describing the Lorentz angle, diffusion effect, drift time, multiplication, and induction are obtained from the Garfield++ simulation. Based on these results, a preliminary digitization model is implemented in the BESIII offline software system.
