Search for D 0 → K − η e + ν e , D + → K S 0 η e + ν e and D + → η η e + ν e decays

By analyzing e + e − annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 fb − 1 , collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we search for the semileptonic decays D 0 → K − η e + ν e , D + → K S 0 η e + ν e and D + → η η e + ν e for the first time. We present evidence for D 0 → K − η e + ν e with a significance of 3.3 σ . The branching fraction of D 0 → K − η e + ν e is measured to be ( 0.8 4 − 0.34 + 0.29 ± 0.22 ) × 10 − 4 . No significant signals are observed for the decays D + → K S 0 η e + ν e and D + → η η e + ν e and we set the upper limits on their branching fractions. Using a data sample of e + e − collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 fb − 1 collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy 3.773 GeV, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the decay D + → K S 0 K S 0 π + . The absolute branching fraction of D + → K S 0 K S 0 π + is measured to be ( 2.97 ± 0.0 9 stat ± 0.0 5 syst ) × 10 − 3 . The dominant intermediate process is D + → K S 0 K * ( 892 ) + , whose branching fraction is determined to be ( 8.72 ± 0.2 8 stat ± 0.1 5 syst ) × 10 − 3 , including all the K * ( 892 ) + decays. Measurement of the branching fraction of the decay J / ψ → p p ¯ η

A high-precision measurement of the branching fraction of the decay J / ψ → p p ¯ η is performed using ( 10 087 ± 44 ) × 10 6 J / ψ events recorded by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The branching fractions of the two decays J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → γ γ ) and J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → π + π − π 0 ) are measured individually to be B ( J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → γ γ ) ) = ( 1.480 ± 0.001 ± 0.024 ) × 10 − 3 and B ( J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → π + π − π 0 ) ) = ( 1.557 ± 0.003 ± 0.038 ) × 10 − 3 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Both results are compatible within their uncorrelated systematic uncertainties. The combined result is B ( J / ψ → p p ¯ η ) = ( 1.495 ± 0.001 ± 0.023 ) × 10 − 3 , where the first uncertainty is the combined statistical uncertainty and the second one the combined systematic uncertainty of both analyses, incorporating correlations between them. In addition, the p p ¯ threshold region is investigated for a potential threshold enhancement, and no evidence for one is observed. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Measurements of the branching fractions of semileptonic D s + decays via e + e − → D s * + D s * −

We measure the absolute branching fractions of semileptonic D s + decays via the e + e − → D s * + D s * − process using e + e − collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 10.64 fb − 1 collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.237 and 4.699 GeV. The branching fractions are B ( D s + → η e + ν e ) = ( 2.35 ± 0.11 stat ± 0.10 syst ) % , B ( D s + → η ′ e + ν e ) = ( 0.82 ± 0.09 stat ± 0.04 syst ) % , B ( D s + → ϕ e + ν e ) = ( 2.21 ± 0.16 stat ± 0.11 syst ) % , B ( D s + → f 0 ( 980 ) e + ν e , f 0 ( 980 ) → π + π − ) = ( 0.15 ± 0.02 stat ± 0.01 syst ) % , B ( D s + → K 0 e + ν e ) = ( 0.24 ± 0.0 4 stat ± 0.0 1 syst ) % , and B ( D s + → K * 0 e + ν e ) = ( 0.19 ± 0.0 3 stat ± 0.0 1 syst ) % . These results are consistent with those measured via the e + e − → D s * ± D s ∓ process by BESIII and CLEO. Using two-parameter series expansion, the hadronic transition form factors of D s + → η e + ν e , D s + → η ′ e + ν e , and D s + → K 0 e + ν e are determined to be f + η ( 0 ) = 0.442 ± 0.02 2 stat ± 0.01 7 syst , f + η ′ ( 0 ) = 0.557 ± 0.06 2 stat ± 0.02 4 syst , and f + K 0 ( 0 ) = 0.677 ± 0.09 8 stat ± 0.02 3 syst . Search for X ( 3872 ) → π 0 π 0 χ c 1 , 2

Using 10.1 fb − 1 of e + e − collision data collected by the BESIII detector with center-of-mass energies between 4.15 GeV and 4.30 GeV, we search for the decays X ( 3872 ) → π 0 π 0 χ c 1 , 2 , where the X ( 3872 ) is produced in e + e − → γ X ( 3872 ) . No evidence above 3 σ is found for either decay. Upper limits at the 90% CL on the branching fractions of X ( 3872 ) → π 0 π 0 χ c 1 , 2 normalized to the branching fraction of X ( 3872 ) → π + π − J / ψ are set to be B ( X ( 3872 ) → π 0 π 0 χ c 1 ) / B ( X ( 3872 ) → π + π − J / ψ ) < 1.1 and B ( X ( 3872 ) → π 0 π 0 χ c 2 ) / B ( X ( 3872 ) → π + π − J / ψ ) < 0.5 , taking into account both statistical and systematic uncertainties. Search for η c ( 2 S ) → 2 ( π + π − ) and improved measurement of χ c J → 2 ( π + π − )

We search for the hadronic decay η c ( 2 S ) → 2 ( π + π − ) in the ψ ( 3686 ) → γ η c ( 2 S ) radiative decay using ( 27.12 ± 0.14 ) × 10 8 ψ ( 3686 ) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is found, and the upper limit of B [ ψ ( 3686 ) → γ η c ( 2 S ) ] B [ η c ( 2 S ) → 2 ( π + π − ) ] is determined to be 1.43 × 10 − 6 at the 90% confidence level. Using ψ ( 3686 ) → γ χ c J transitions, we also measure the branching fractions of B [ χ c J ( J = 0 , 1 , 2 ) → 2 ( π + π − ) ] , which are B [ χ c 0 → 2 ( π + π − ) ] = ( 2.127 ± 0.002 ( stat ) ± 0.101 ( syst ) ) % , B [ χ c 1 → 2 ( π + π − ) ] = ( 0.685 ± 0.001 ( stat ) ± 0.031 ( syst ) ) % , and B [ χ c 2 → 2 ( π + π − ) ] = ( 1.153 ± 0.001 ( stat ) ± 0.063 ( syst ) ) % . Extracting the femtometer structure of strange baryons using the vacuum polarization effect

Abstract One of the fundamental goals of particle physics is to gain a microscopic understanding of the strong interaction. Electromagnetic form factors quantify the structure of hadrons in terms of charge and magnetization distributions. While the nucleon structure has been investigated extensively, data on hyperons are still scarce. It has recently been demonstrated that electron-positron annihilations into hyperon-antihyperon pairs provide a powerful tool to investigate their inner structure. We present a method useful for hyperon-antihyperon pairs of different types which exploits the cross section enhancement due to the effect of vacuum polarization at theJ/ψresonance. Using the 10 billionJ/ψevents collected with the BESIII detector, this allows a precise determination of the hyperon structure function. The result is essentially a precise snapshot of the$$\bar{\Lambda }{\Sigma }^{0}\,(\Lambda {\bar{\Sigma }}^{0})$$ Λ ¯ Σ 0 ( Λ Σ ¯ 0 ) transition process, encoded in the transition form factor ratio and phase. Their values are measured to beR = 0.860 ± 0.029(stat.) ± 0.015(syst.),$$\Delta {\Phi }_{\bar{\Lambda }{\Sigma }^{0}}=(1.011\pm 0.094({{\rm{stat.}}})\pm 0.010({{\rm{syst.}}}))\,{{\rm{r}}}ad$$ Δ Φ Λ ¯ Σ 0 = ( 1.011 ± 0.094 ( stat. ) ± 0.010 ( syst. ) ) r a d and$$\Delta {\Phi }_{\Lambda {\bar{\Sigma }}^{0}}=(2.128\pm 0.094({{\rm{stat.}}})\pm 0.010({{\rm{syst.}}}))\,{{\rm{r}}}ad$$ Δ Φ Λ Σ ¯ 0 = ( 2.128 ± 0.094 ( stat. ) ± 0.010 ( syst. ) ) r a d . Furthermore, charge-parity (CP) breaking is investigated in this reaction and found to be consistent with CP symmetry.
