How the Station will operate

Aspects of the upcoming operational phase of the Space Station (SS) are examined. What the crew members will do with their time in their specialized roles is addressed. SS maintenance and servicing and the interaction of the SS Control Center with Johnson Space Center is discussed. The planning of payload operations and strategic planning for the SS are examined.

Space Station - New venture/old problem

Four key operations-related costs are associated with the Space Station: (1) transportation, (2) data management, (3) sustaining enginenering, and (4) integrated logistics. Life cycle cost principles will be utilized by the Space Station Program to assess operating costs associated with any particular design 'improvement' opportunity.
