The Impact of NSCAT Data on Simulating Ocean Circulation

Wind taken from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scatterometer (NSCAT) is compared with the operational analysis from European Center for Medium-Rnage Forecast (ECMWF) for the entire duration (about 9 months) of the NSCAT mission.

Altimeter Observations of Baroclinic Oceanic Inertia-Gravity Wave Turbulence

For a wide range of nonlinear wave processes - from capillary to planetary waves - theory predicts the existence of Kolmogorov-type spectral cascades of energy and other conserved quantities occuring via nonlinear resonant wave-wave interactions. So far, observations of wave turbulence (WT) have been limited to small-scale processes such as surface gravity and capillary-gravity waves.

Applying Formal Methods and Object-Oriented Analysis to Existing Space Shuttle Software

This paper describes the application of formal methods and object-oriented modeling to reverse engineering, in which formal specifications are developed for existing, or legacy, code. In this project, several layers of formal specifications were constructed for a portion of the NASA Space Shuttle Digital Auto Pilot (DAP), a software module that is used to control the position of the spacecraft through appropriate jet firings.
