Study of the decay D 0 → ρ ( 770 ) − e + ν e

We present a study of the semileptonic decay D 0 → π − π 0 e + ν e using an e + e − annihilation data sample of 7.93 fb − 1 collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The branching fraction of D 0 → ρ ( 770 ) − e + ν e is measured to be ( 1.439 ± 0.033 ( stat ) ± 0.027 ( syst ) ) × 10 − 3 , which is a factor 1.6 more precise than previous measurements. By performing an amplitude analysis, we measure the hadronic form-factor ratios of D 0 → ρ ( 770 ) − e + ν e at q 2 = 0 assuming the single-pole-dominance parametrization: r V = V ( 0 ) / A 1 ( 0 ) = 1.548 ± 0.079 ( stat ) ± 0.041 ( syst ) and r 2 = A 2 ( 0 ) / A 1 ( 0 ) = 0.823 ± 0.056 ( stat ) ± 0.026 ( syst ) . Observation of D → a 0 ( 980 ) π in the decays D 0 → π + π − η and D + → π + π 0 η

We report the first amplitude analyses of the decays D 0 → π + π − η and D + → π + π 0 η using a data sample taken with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3773 MeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.9 fb − 1 . The contribution from the process D 0 ( + ) → a 0 ( 980 ) + π − ( 0 ) is significantly larger than the D 0 ( + ) → a 0 ( 980 ) − ( 0 ) π + contribution. The ratios B ( D 0 → a 0 ( 980 ) + π − ) / B ( D 0 → a 0 ( 980 ) − π + ) and B ( D + → a 0 ( 980 ) + π 0 ) / B ( D + → a 0 ( 980 ) 0 π + ) are measured to be 7.5 − 0.8 stat + 2.5 ± 1.7 syst and 2.6 ± 0.6 stat ± 0.3 syst , respectively. The measured D 0 ratio disagrees with the theoretical predictions by orders of magnitudes, thus implying a substantial contribution from final-state interactions. Precise Measurement of the e + e − → D s + D s − Cross Section at Center-of-Mass Energies from Threshold to 4.95 GeV

Using the e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, at center-of-mass energies from the threshold to 4.95 GeV, we present precise measurements of the cross section for the process e + e − → D s + D s − using a single-tag method. The resulting cross section line shape exhibits several new structures, thereby offering an input for a future coupled-channel analysis and model tests, which are critical to understand vector charmonium-like states with masses between 4 and 5 GeV. Model-independent determination of the strong-phase difference between D 0 and D ¯ 0 → π + π − π + π − decays

Measurements of the strong-phase difference between D 0 and D ¯ 0 → π + π − π + π − are performed in bins of phase space. The study exploits a sample of quantum-correlated D D ¯ mesons collected by the BESIII experiment in e + e − collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb − 1 . Here, D denotes a neutral charm meson in a superposition of flavor eigenstates. The reported results are valuable for measurements of the C P -violating phase γ (also denoted ϕ 3 ) in B ± → D K ± , D → π + π − π + π − decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on γ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of B -meson decays, is around 1.5° or 2°, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of F + 4 π = 0.746 ± 0.010 ± 0.004 for the C P -even fraction of D 0 → π + π − π + π − decays, which is around 30% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity. Observation of η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − η

By analyzing ( 27.12 ± 0.14 ) × 10 8 ψ ( 3686 ) events accumulated with the BESIII detector, the decay η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − η is observed for the first time with a significance of 6.2 σ after considering systematic uncertainties. The product of the branching fractions of ψ ( 3686 ) → γ η c ( 2 S ) and η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − η is measured to be B ( ψ ( 3686 ) → γ η c ( 2 S ) ) × B ( η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − η ) = ( 2.39 ± 0.32 ± 0.34 ) × 10 − 6 , where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second one is systematic. The branching fraction of η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − η is determined to be B ( η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − η ) = ( 3.42 ± 0.46 ± 0.48 ± 2.44 ) × 10 − 3 , where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of ψ ( 3686 ) → γ η c ( 2 S ) . Using a recent BESIII measurement of B ( η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − π 0 ) , we also determine the ratio between the branching fractions of η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − η and η c ( 2 S ) → K + K − π 0 to be 1.49 ± 0.22 ± 0.25 , which is consistent with the previous result of at a comparable precision level. A high-precision measurement of the branching fraction of the decay J / ψ → p p ¯ η is performed using ( 10 087 ± 44 ) × 10 6 J / ψ events recorded by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. The branching fractions of the two decays J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → γ γ ) and J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → π + π − π 0 ) are measured individually to be B ( J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → γ γ ) ) = ( 1.480 ± 0.001 ± 0.024 ) × 10 − 3 and B ( J / ψ → p p ¯ η ( η → π + π − π 0 ) ) = ( 1.557 ± 0.003 ± 0.038 ) × 10 − 3 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Both results are compatible within their uncorrelated systematic uncertainties. The combined result is B ( J / ψ → p p ¯ η ) = ( 1.495 ± 0.001 ± 0.023 ) × 10 − 3 , where the first uncertainty is the combined statistical uncertainty and the second one the combined systematic uncertainty of both analyses, incorporating correlations between them. In addition, the p p ¯ threshold region is investigated for a potential threshold enhancement, and no evidence for one is observed. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

The absolute branching fractions of D s 1 ( 2536 ) − → D ¯ * 0 K − and D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − → D ¯ 0 K − are measured for the first time to be ( 35.9 ± 4.8 ± 3.5 ) % and ( 37.4 ± 3.1 ± 4.6 ) % , respectively. The e + e − → D s + D s 1 ( 2536 ) − and e + e − → D s + D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6 GeV with a width of 50 MeV is observed in both processes with a statistical significance of 7.2 σ and 15 σ , respectively. The state is observed for the first time in e + e − → D s + D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − and could be the Y ( 4626 ) found by the Belle oration in the D s + D s 1 ( 2536 ) − final state, since they have similar masses and widths. Measurement of Electron Antineutrino Oscillation Amplitude and Frequency via Neutron Capture on Hydrogen at Daya Bay

This Letter reports the first measurement of the oscillation amplitude and frequency of reactor antineutrinos at Daya Bay via neutron capture on hydrogen using 1958 days of data. With over 3.6 million signal candidates, an optimized candidate selection, improved treatment of backgrounds and efficiencies, refined energy calibration, and an energy response model for the capture-on-hydrogen sensitive region, the relative ν ¯ e rates and energy spectra variation among the near and far detectors gives sin 2 2 θ 13 = 0.075 9 − 0.0049 + 0.0050 and Δ m 32 2 = ( 2.7 2 − 0.15 + 0.14 ) × 10 − 3 eV 2 assuming the normal neutrino mass ordering, and Δ m 32 2 = ( − 2.8 3 − 0.14 + 0.15 ) × 10 − 3 eV 2 for the inverted neutrino mass ordering. This estimate of sin 2 2 θ 13 is consistent with and essentially independent from the one obtained using the capture-on-gadolinium sample at Daya Bay. The combination of these two results yields sin 2 2 θ 13 = 0.0833 ± 0.0022 , which represents an 8% relative improvement in precision regarding the Daya Bay full 3158-day capture-on-gadolinium result. Measurement of the branching fraction of ψ ( 2 S ) → γ π 0

Based on ( 2712.4 ± 14.1 ) × 10 6 ψ ( 2 S ) events, 7.9 fb − 1 ψ ( 3773 ) data, and 0.8 fb − 1 off-resonance data samples collected with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of ψ ( 2 S ) → γ π 0 and e + e − → γ π 0 form factor at momentum transfers Q 2 ∼ 13 GeV 2 . The e + e − → γ π 0 cross section is fitted with considering the interference between the ψ ( 2 S ) and continuum amplitudes and two solutions are found, B = 3.74 × 10 − 7 with ϕ = 3.93 rad and B = 7.87 × 10 − 7 with ϕ = 2.08 rad . Here, B is the branching fraction of ψ ( 2 S ) → γ π 0 and ϕ is the relative phase angle between the ψ ( 2 S ) and continuum amplitudes.
