Spacecraft attitude pointing performance during orbit adjust as a function of compensator order

A steady state compensator of specified order is proposed to estimate the required duty cycle needed to balance the distribution torque. The compensator was increased gradually to demonstrate the improvement in pointing accuracy. The basic mathematical model of the flexible spacecraft and sensor used to characterize the performance of the compensator are described.

Constrained optimal controller for linear systems with state and control dependent disturbance

The problem is posed with the additional constraints that the dynamic controller uses only noise-corrupted outputs, and that its dimension is significantly lower than that of a Kalman filter. The unknown disturbance is viewed as an adversary which tries to maximize a performance criterion: a criterion that the controller gains attempt to minimize. The optimal controller gains are determined by solving a nonlinear matrix two-point boundary value problem.

Output feedback for linear multivariable systems with parameter uncertainty.

A minimax design method is applied to the problem of obtaining an acceptable output feedback matrix for linear multivariable systems with parameter uncertainty. The result is a set of nonlinear matrix equations (similar to those obtained by Levine and Athans (1970)), which must be solved for the feedback matrix. An example illustrates the technique and the fact that better results are achieved for large parameter variation than with a purely nominal design.

Incomplete state feedback for systems with parameter uncertainty and random disturbances

A unified design philosophy is presented for limited state feedback control problems with parameter uncertainty for both deterministic and stochastic problems. Two approaches are considered: linear compensator for the deterministic problem with parameter uncertainty, and for the single input-single output system with parameter uncertainty, a model on order equal to that of the system less the number of zeroes. The limitations of these approaches are discussed along with suggestions for further research.

Design of minimax output feedback controller for system with parameter uncertainty

The problem of controlling a time-invariant system with parameter uncertainty is considered with incomplete state feedback. The controller is designed by minimaximizing a quadratic performance criterion and a sensitivity (or loss) criterion, involving the state of the system, the control, and the uncertainty vector. The resulting optimal controller is linear and optimal feedback gain matrix must satisfy a set of nonlinear algebraic equations. some algorithms for algebraic minimax problems are presented.

Minimax control of a system with process uncertainty in substate space

The control of a single input-single output plant with parameter uncertainty was approached using a minimax technique. A linear time invariant controller results which requires only partial state feedback and is optimal in the sense that it minimizes a quadratic criterion involving tracking error, control, and parameter uncertainty. Bounded input-bounded output stability is guaranteed provided the transfer function has only left half plane zeros. If uncertainties are bounded, it is always possible to stabilize the system when sufficient control amplitude is available. The number of states required to generate the control is equal to the system order less the number of zeros.
