We will demonstrate that these boundary layer waves are continuously present on auroral zone magnetic field lines at all local times. The wave intensities and latitudinal location dependences on interplanetary parameters have been statistically determined and will be discussed.
The properties of Alfven waves detected in both high-speed and slow-speed streams as detected by Ulysses will be reviewed.

We use 1997-1998 Wind Solar Wind data and POLAR UV imaging data to study magnetospheric responses and substorm triggering mechanisms during and after interplanetary (IP) shock events.
Energetic ***sup3***He particle mean free paths are calculated using in-situ wave amplitudes. The wave polarization and wave k directions are included in a first order cyclotron resonant calculation.
